My Love of Baseball and the Chicago Cubs

7:00pm

Leonard-Leota Park "Horse Shelter" by the soccer field

Event Type: Community

The Grove Society is pleased to host a program with The Capital Times editor emeritus Dave Zweifel, who has been a Cubs' fan since his dad took him to Wrigley Field for the first time back in 1948. Dave will look at decades of heartbreak that were finally rewarded by the team's first World Series win in 108 years.

Dave will explain why baseball is his favorite sport and the influence that his father had on Dave’s love for the game.  Dave’s father was a New Glarus farmer who retired from farming and bought the bowling lanes in Evansville in 1959. Cloyence Zweifel was a longtime and feisty Home Talent League player and manager during his youth. The League still confers an award in his name to a deserving recipient after each season.

The lecture is scheduled for 7 pm Monday, July 16th, at the Horse Shelter in Leonard-Leota Park. An alternate location, if weather is not appropriate for an outdoor activity, will be at Creekside Place, 102 Maple Street, Evansville, same date and time.
