Code enforcement falls under a number of departments, including Planning & Zoning, Building Inspection, Public Works, and the Police Department. As Evansville continues to grow, we have contracted with Municipal Code Enforcement, LLC, to assist with code compliance. You may see a white Ford Escape with the City logo making rounds.
If you have a property complaint, please contact 262-249-6701 or e-mail mcodeenforcement@gmail.com. Be sure to include the address and mention that you're reporting a violation in Evansville.
Step One:
MCE receives a report through this form or observes a report of a violation, they will document the violation by taking a photo.
MCE will issue a Notice of Violation with a fair compliance deadline. This violation notice will be received either via door hanger or by mail.
Step Two
MCE will re-check the property for compliance following the compliance deadline.
If the property has addressed all violations, the property will be marked in compliance and no fees or citations will be issued.
For grass and weed violations, if the property is not in compliance following the given compliance timeline, the property will be referred to Public Works for remediation. No second notice will be given.
Step Three:
MCE will re-check any properties that received a final notice of compliance.
If the property has addressed all violations, the property will be marked in compliance.
If the property is not yet in compliance, a citation or fees will be issued.
