Park and Outdoor Recreation Plan

The City of Evansville updates its Park and Outdoor Recreation Plan (PORP) every 5 years. This Plan takes inventory of the City's parks and open spaces, notes park improvements achieved since the adoption of the last Plan, and identifies the community's future park and recreation needs.

2025 Update - Active Transportation

The 2020 PORP focused on solutions for the aging Veterans Memorial Pool and concept ideas for West Side Park. As a result there is a new pool at the new Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center at the expanded and improved Larson Acres Park.

In 2025, the Park and Outdoor Recreation Plan is focusing on ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION, which focuses on how residents use (or don't use) the City's sidewalks, trails, and how it is to get safely around town without a car.

Take the Survey!

A BIG part of the update is hearing from YOU, the residents of Evansville! The City is looking for feedback on two surveys -- one about park usage and needs, and the other a safety concerns survey and web map.
